Hardcore band formed by Zé Flávio (guitars), Fernando (vocals), Fio (drums), and Medina (bass), in the beginning of 1994, with the goal to play protest songs. Their first CD, “400% Hardcore”, was released by Cogumelo Records in 1995. The album was acclaimed by the underground fans, which helped them to play in the local hardcore scene. Some gigs later the band missed its first member, drummer Fio. Fred replaced him, and recorded with Sociedade Armada its second album, “Tocar e Protestar” (Cogumelo, 2000). The album established the band in the national hardcore scene, making possible gigs in many cities and Brazilian states.
Since all its members are not able to make a living out of music, the band had to slow down its activities, and in 2001 guitar player Zé Flávio and drummer Fred left the band, being replaced by Rogério and Marcos. The new line-up recorded the band's third CD in the beginning of 2004, “Ordem e Progresso”. The album keeps the same style and political engagement: its 19 songs depict social-political themes and many issues from our daily lives. One of the strongest themes criticizes the so-called “American dream”, whose monopoly over the international issues is a growing lie, only benefiting the Americans, who humiliate any person from other nationality.
Sociedade Armada is heavier than ever, but always loyal to its “old school” Hardcore, a unique choice nowadays. This is their only label: Hardcore. They follow no banner or symbol, they do not adore any image and they do not support any political party. They only believe in the positive side of all existing things.
