Conceived in 1990, LETHAL CURSE... was officially founded in 1992 with Jhair Carvalho (lead vocals, bass guitars), Alex Rodrigues (all guitars) and Frederick Stocco (drums). That line up was active until 1997 when it is renewed with the inclusion of Pedro Alzaga (drums) and Paulo Moura (keyboards).

As its musical purpose, is the creation of a strong, deep and distinctive sonority, with any limits between the opposites that all govern: light and darkness, the ancient and the contemporary... besides to retract your convictions, beliefs and feelings in an universal way through your music. The band's name is inspired in all the natural destructive manifestations, "acts of god" that always happened on earth, and that for the ancient ones they were considered as a nemesis, a curse of the gods, a "lethal curse" for your mistakes and sins.

The first studio recording was "Return To Obscurity" from 1993. The two tracks of that demo co-produced by the Sarcofago ex-lead guitarrist was massivelly raved on, followed by a great underground response, getting very positive reviews in traditional zines, mags and labels during the two years it was promoted, besides being included with that material in 1995 in the CD Compilation "The Winds Of A New Millennium I" that show some of the best new acts of the Brazilian scene.

In this period yet, some good shows were made and some of these memorable ones, as with the "cult"act SARCOFAGO in 93 and the Doomsters of ANATHEMA in 94.

The label Cogumelo Records thinks that the band has a lot to offer musically, as well as enough maturity to survive in the overcrowed musical scene, and signs the band for the release of its debut full lenght album called "Rape The Innocence".

Recorded in one of the best Brazilian studios with a masterly production work, that album shows an astonishing musical development along its nine songs, written as a single theme divided in different "moments", where the band can show a rich variety of tunes and expressions through its Doomy Death/Black Metal that could be best described only as "Dark Metal".

From vigorous aggression to atmospheric passages, from ultra speed but yet catchy riffs to more dense intensities, everything involved with a soft orchestral touch, the music of LETHAL CURSE... is gloomy, well structured but especially with all the heavyness in the command, able to satisfy and attract fans for example of CELTIC FROST, HIPOCRISY, SAMAEL or anyone into well crafted metaL in general.

"Rape The Innocence" marks the beginning of a band prepared to leave a legacy, and through it Cogumelo Records presents a superb and oppressive release making ever strong its "old tradition" of production to the world the best of extreme and underground music.
