| Brutal, intense, violent. This is the best definition to this true Brazilian Death Metal cult, born fifteen years ago in Salvador, state capital of Bahia. Many things have passed, many musicians have crossed its way, but Headhunter D.C. maintains its hard struggle and prepares itself to blow away the international underground scene, proving that it is possible to grow without betraying its true essence. And in this case, the word essence means simply Death Metal.
In 1989 Headhunter D.C. released the demo-tape “Hell is Here”, which got high appraisals in the underground metal scene. This tape got even distributed by the American label Wild Rags. In truth, the songs of this demo were part of an EP, which never was released. The acceptance of the “Hell is Here” tape was so great that in the following year Headhunter D.C. signed a deal with the label Cogumelo Records. The classic début LP “Born… Suffer… Die…” was released in 1991, taking the band to a national recognition status. The band started to tour the country, and rapidly became one of the main acts of the Brazilian Death Metal.
The anticipated reissue of the début “Born… Suffer… Die…” marks the month of October 2002. The album, now in CD format, is released by Cogumelo Records, which also includes as bonus material the classic “Hell is Here” demo and other rare recordings, such as live tracks and unreleased studio tracks. The booklet also contains unpublished photographs from the 1990/1992 years. It is a landmark in the Brazilian Death Metal history, as well as a huge gift for its fans and admirers, and for all defenders of the tradition of brutal Brazilian Death Metal. Nothing could fit best the celebration of a 15-year long struggle in the underground, an astonishing career of a band who has always chosen to oppose fashion and trends, fighting for the Death Metal flag, the way it is supposed to be.
